WELCOME TO THE PRACTICE
Welcome
to our practice located on two sites: in Longfield, at Kent House and in New Ash
Green, next to the library. Both surgeries have access for the disabled and offer
a full and comprehensive range of medical care provided by our health care team.
All doctors consult in both surgeries, spending half their time at each site. You
may consult any of the doctors but it is preferable to stay with the same doctor
for any particular problem. As part of our plan to improve our service to you,
we have produced this website to tell you about the practice and how to manage
some common problems. Please read it carefully. We trust that you will find it
helpful and informative.
The
History Of The Practice
In the
1950s Hartley and Longfield were branches of the Meopham Practice with only two
doctors: Dr Jenman and Dr Read. As the area expanded in the late 1960s and into
the 1970s so did the practice. Dr Thakor Patel joined the practice in 1972 and
Dr David Rebel joined in 1976. At this time the main surgery was in Hartley
with two branch surgeries, one in Longfield and one in New Ash Green. The practice
population continued to grow and the main surgery in Hartley closed and moved
to Longfield. The practice split from the Meopham Surgery and in 1978
Dr Smith joined the practice. In 1980 Dr Andrew Dott joined the group and in 1982
Dr Paul Davies joined. The new surgery in New Ash Green opened at this
time. On Dr Reads retirement in 1984 Dr Luffingham joined. For the next
five years the practice remained unchanged. In response to improving medical care
and an increasing population, the partners agreed to increase the partnership
to eight by asking the wives of two existing partners to join the group, so in
1989 Dr Jeanne Herring and Dr Yvonne Davies joined. 1996 saw the completion
of an extension to the New Ash Green surgery, providing a larger waiting room,
eight consulting rooms, a fully equipped treatment room and comprehensive office
facilities.
Dr T
D Patel retired from the practice in 2003 and Dr N Gandhi and Dr S Pimenta joined
the partnership.
