Minor
Surgery Our practice offers joint injections, cryotherapy
and insertion of HRT implants. Ask your doctor.
Travel Immunisation If you intend
to go abroad on holiday or business, you may need the protection of travel vaccinations
and malaria tablets. Please see the practice nurse by appointment, if possible
two months before departure. We advise you to take a sterile needle pack whenever
visiting Third World countries where hygiene is dubious. Adult
Immunisation You will need to have a tetanus booster every
10 years and a polio booster if you are visiting a part of the world where the
risk is high. We also offer a flu vaccine from October every year, especially
for the over 65s and those with chest or heart complaints. See the nurse.
Private Services
Some services
fall outside the NHS remit and for these a charge may be made. These are BUPA/PPP forms,
private certificates, passport applications, some travel vaccinations and various
special examinations for employment, elderly drivers’ insurance, sports,
holiday cancellation and schools etc. A full list of these services is displayed
on our notice board and kept at the reception desk together with current prices
as recommended by the British Medical Association. Medical
Examinations If required, eg by an insurance company, these
are charged at the standard BMA rates. If you need a special examination please
arrange this with the receptionist, as a longer appointment has to be allowed.
Failure to attend an appointment will incur a fee.

Booster Vaccination |
Children who have not
received the HIB vaccinations will be offered it between the ages of four months
and four years. The childhood vaccinations are now given in rapid succession
at two, three and four months to protect small babies from whooping cough and
haemophilus (HIB) infections. It is very important that your child has these vaccinations.
There are only a few reasons for not vaccinating a child. If you are concerned
that your child should not have a vaccination on a particular day, perhaps because
he or she is unwell, please bring them to the surgery so that the doctor can assess
whether or not to do the vaccination. It is very rare for a child not to be able
to have the whooping cough vaccine. There is a very real danger of your
baby being damaged if they contract whooping cough in the first year of life.
