Seeing
The Doctor
We run an appointment system in the morning and in the evenings. The doctors undertake
medical examinations for insurance purposes, adoption and fostering needs. These
require 30 minutes and can be arranged via the receptionist.

Standard
Appointments
If you want to see a specific doctor, please
indicate this at the time of booking an appointment.
If the problem is more
pressing, but not urgent, then an appointment will generally be given within two
working days with the next available doctor or nurse prescriber.
Urgent
appointments can be booked on the day with the rotating cover doctor and nurse
prescribers. This additional service is offered most mornings Monday to Friday.
If
you find you no longer require your appointment, please inform us as soon as possible,
so that the appointment can be offered to another patient.
Please do not
make routine appointments for updating prescriptions or minor self-limiting conditions
at busy times of the year, such as Christmas and Easter, and following Bank Holidays.
The nurse prescribers are able to deal with these problems and it would be appropriate
to request an appointment with a nurse as opposed to a doctor.
The nurse
prescribers can be consulted for routine blood pressure checks, cervical smears,
infections, minor ailments, contracepion and hormone replacement therapy reviews,
in addition to general queries regarding medication or health concerns. They will
advise you when you need to make an appointment with the doctor.

OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
Patients are requested to telephone before 10.00am if they require a home
visit.
Home visits are reserved for the incapacitated and those too ill to
come to the surgery. Lack of transport, inconvenience or minor ailments are not
justifiable for a home visit.
The doctor may telephone to assess the need.
Please remember a more complete and effective consultation can be conducted in
the surgery, and several patients can be seen in the same time as it takes to
do a home visit.
If you feel you need a doctor IMMEDIATELY please tell
the receptionist who will put you through to a doctor.

OBTAIN A REPEAT
PRESCRIPTION?
Our repeat prescription system is computerised but please give two full working
days' notice for repeat requests. They should be sent (enclosing an SAE) or brought
to the surgery. To prevent error we do not take requests for repeats over the
telephone.
If you are a newly registered patient, you will need to see a doctor first, for
confirmation of your medication and assessment prior to initiation of the repeat
system.
When you have reached your allowed number of repeats you will be asked to see
a doctor to update the repeat prescription. This should normally be in the next
month or so and is not an urgent issue.
PLEASE REMEMBER: It Is Not Possible To Accept Requests For Repeat Prescriptions
Over The Telephone.

four weeks and X-ray results after three weeks. It is IMPORTANT
that you remember to contact the surgery for your result. The receptionist will
be able to advise as to the appropriate action required depending on the test
result. Please telephone between 2.30 and 4.30pm on weekdays.

OBTAIN A SICKNESS CERTIFICATE?
For
employees, doctors do not have to issue sick notes for the first week of sickness.
For the first six days of sickness please ask your employer for a form SC2.
If you require a sick note from your doctor for insurance purposes etc (or for
your employer), please ask the doctor for a private sick note for which a fee
is payable.
A receipt will be issued if requested.
If you are still sick
after six days ask your doctor for a free NHS sick note.
